TransPerth Train

Transperth Trains is a division of the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. It is responsible for operating Perth’s urban passenger rail system, as part of the Transperth network.

Australind Train

The Transwa Australind is a diesel railcar train operated by Transwa that runs between Perth, Western Australia, and the south-west city of Bunbury on the South Western Railway (Western Australia). The Australind fleet consists of three powered railcars ADP101, ADP102 and ADP103, with two non-driving trailers ADQ121 and ADQ122. These units form one railcar with an ADP car at each end, and the two ADQ cars in the center. The remaining ADP car is normally stowed at the maintenance depot for servicing.

Busselton to Meelup Beach and return, day 5, Friday 25 November 1977.  The day was sunny and mild with a light southerly. I had slept without waking for about 10 hours (I can’t do that any more!) and felt heaps better. I had ordered my breakfast for 8 am – this was 1977, they still brought brekky up on a tray to your room. A knock on the door woke me up and I got up and got the tray from the floor outside the door. This was also the time before I started buying cakes and pies the day before to have breakfast in bed, saving time, energy and money. I think I started doing that in 1987.

Perth

Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia and the fourth most populous city in Australia. The Perth metropolitan area has an estimated population of 1,659,000. The metropolitan area is located in the South West Division of Western Australia, between the Indian Ocean and a low coastal escarpment known as the Darling Range. The central business district and suburbs of Perth are situated on the banks of the Swan River.

Bunbury

The port city of Bunbury is the third largest city in Western Australia after the State Capital Perth and Mandurah. It is situated 175 kilometres (109 mi) south of Perth’s central business district (CBD). The port services the farming and timber industries of the south west originally connect via an extensive rail network.

Fremantle

Fremantle is a port city in Western Australia, located 19 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Perth, the state capital, at the mouth of the Swan River on Australia’s western coast. It was the first area settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 25,000. The city is named after Captain Charles Howe Fremantle, the English naval officer who had pronounced possession of Western Australia and who established a camp at the site. The city contains well-preserved 19th-century buildings and other heritage features. The Western Australian vernacular diminutive for Fremantle is “Freo”.
