Albany

Albany is a port city located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, some 390 kilometres south-east of Perth, the state capital. As of 2009, Albany’s population is estimated at approximate 33,600 making it the sixth-largest city in the state. Albany is the oldest permanently settled town in Western Australia, predating Perth and Fremantle by some two years. Today the town has a place of significance as a tourist destination and base from which to explore the south west of the state and is well regarded for its natural beauty and preservation of heritage.

Vasse

Vasse is a town in the South West region of Western Australia, 10 kilometres (6 mi) west of the town of Busselton and 240 kilometres (149 mi) southwest of Perth. Its Local Government Area is the Shire of Busselton. The town is named after the Vasse River and Vasse Estuary.

Fremantle

Fremantle is a port city in Western Australia, located 19 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Perth, the state capital, at the mouth of the Swan River on Australia’s western coast. It was the first area settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 25,000. The city is named after Captain Charles Howe Fremantle, the English naval officer who had pronounced possession of Western Australia and who established a camp at the site. The city contains well-preserved 19th-century buildings and other heritage features. The Western Australian vernacular diminutive for Fremantle is “Freo”.

Bunbury

The port city of Bunbury is the third largest city in Western Australia after the State Capital Perth and Mandurah. It is situated 175 kilometres (109 mi) south of Perth’s central business district (CBD). The port services the farming and timber industries of the south west originally connect via an extensive rail network.

The Perth metropolitan area has an estimated population of 1,659,000. The metropolitan area is located in the South West Division of Western Australia, between the Indian Ocean and a low coastal escarpment known as the Darling Range. The central business district and suburbs of Perth are situated on the banks of the Swan River.
